Salter honored by Farm Bureau with Ag Ambassador Award
Jackson – The Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation presented the Ag
Ambassador Award to Sid Salter, Perspective Editor of the Clarion-Ledger
in Jackson .
In presenting the award, Farm Bureau President David Waide called Salter
a voice of reason. “In a world where the media often searches for
the sensational, Mr. Salter is a sane voice that offers intellectual insight.”
Farm Bureau created the Ag Ambassador Award to recognize individuals who
have gone beyond their normal range of activities in promoting Mississippi
agriculture.
Salter serves on the Clarion-Ledger Editorial Board and is a member of
the Mississippi Press Association Hall of Fame. A former Cook Chair in
Journalism on the University of Mississippi faculty, he was named the
2004 National Alumnus of the Year at Mississippi State University .
