Farm Bureau honors Gibbs with Friend of Agriculture Award
Jackson – The Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation presented its Friend
of Agriculture Award to Representative David Gibbs of West Point . He
is a former Clay County supervisor and has represented District 36 consisting
of Clay, Lowndes, and Monroe counties since 1987.
“Representative Gibbs has been an outstanding spokesperson for rural
Mississippi and projects important to Farm Bureau,” said Farm Bureau
President David Waide. “He has allowed great access from our volunteer
leaders of Farm Bureau and has always been an advocate for the expansion
of the swine industry in north Mississippi .”
Representative Gibbs serves as Vice Chairman of the House Agriculture
Committee and also serves on the Appropriations Committee and Public Health
and Human Services Committee.
In presenting the award, Farm Bureau President David Waide pointed out
that as rural representation in the Mississippi Legislature becomes less
and less, agriculture must rely on its friends to enact legislation that
would support and strengthen agriculture.
