Farm Bureau honors Ward with Friend of Agriculture Award

Jackson – The Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation presented its Friend of Agriculture Award to Representative Greg Ward of Ripley. Representative Ward is the Chairman of the House Agriculture Committee. He represents District 4.

“Chairman Ward has worked hard with Farm Bureau to pass disaster legislation for sweet potato farmers and also the boll weevil bill that stabilizes the boll weevil eradication effort,” said Farm Bureau President David Waide. “His leadership helped both of these bills become law and help the farmers of this state.”

“This bill allows that if there is a place where a few boll weevils are found…that this board can go in and do spot spraying,” said Chairman Ward. “This will take care of any problems that we may have pop up across the state.”

In presenting the award, Farm Bureau President David Waide pointed out that as rural representation in the Mississippi Legislature becomes less and less, agriculture must rely on its friends to enact legislation that would support and strengthen agriculture.

Representative Ward is the owner of Quality Glass in Ripley, and is affiliated with the Tippah County Development Foundation, the National Federation of Independent Business and the National Association of Home Builders.
