Moore honored with Excellence in Leadership Award by Farm Bureau
Jackson - Mrs. Eddie Myrtle Moore of Pelahatchie, MS, was awarded Farm Bureau’s Excellence in Leadership Award at the organization’s annual meeting in Jackson on December 5.
Mrs. Moore has been involved in the Women’s program with Farm Bureau for more than 40 years. She was one of the first people to promote the Ag in the Classroom program into schools in her county and district. She also encouraged others to participate in the Farm Bureau state convention, the Blair Batson Toy Drive, the Young Farmer Silent Auction, and the women’s business sessions.
She was also very instrumental in collecting money and supplies for the Ronald McDonald House to celebrate “Food Checkout Day”. In addition to that, she encouraged others to help her with the Women’s Day at the Capitol where many farm women let legislators know what some of the issues of importance were in agriculture.
Mrs. Moore has served as her county Farm Bureau Women’s Chair and also on the Farm Bureau State Women’s Committee.
Farm Bureau President David Waide said of Mrs. Moore, “Eddie Myrtle has been generous with her energy, money, and time promoting Mississippi Farm Bureau. She has certainly enriched many of us by her Christian example of volunteerism, her encouragement “to get involved” in worthwhile causes, and her consistent dedication to all that she believes is right and true.”
The Excellence in Leadership Award was established to recognize volunteer leaders of Farm Bureau who have made a significant contribution to Farm Bureau and agriculture in Mississippi. Their contributions have been performed as a result of unselfish effort to strengthen Farm Bureau and to enhance rural life in Mississippi.
